The Heart of Sutherland Tourism is a constituted organisation, which was formed to promote tourism and business attractions located in communities within the main NC500 route. Our group covers the area from Altnaharra in the North to Ardgay in the south and Ledmore Junction and Strath Fleet on our Eastern and Western borders where you are sure sure to find a host of ideas of places to stay and things to see and do.
THE HEART OF SUTHERLAND AS A DESTINATION. Sutherland is situated in the far North Highlands, and covers 2,300 square miles. It is known to be one of the most sparsely populated areas in northern Europe, with scenery second to none with dramatic mountains, lochs and beautiful beaches. It is also the only county that has access to the east, west and north coasts of Scotland.
Sutherland is the perfect holiday destination and in particular the central part of the county, with rivers, forest and cycle tracks. It has so many great opportunities to offer the whole family from a short weekend to a longer holiday.
Sutherland is easily accessible by car with the A9 linking Inverness to the far North or why not try the overnight Caledonian sleeper service from London.
Planning to fly? Travel to/from Inverness Airport - our local airport is rapidly expanding by flying to/from even more locations in the UK and Europe. Sutherland really is an easy to get to place - Why not come and experience this friendly Highland destination? One of the last truly wild places to visit in the U.K.
