Sutherland is blessed with many good golf courses, but the nearest is  Bonar Bridge/Ardgay Golf Club. For a golfing experience to remember follow the road directly opposite the Bridge in the centre of Bonar Bridge up the hill passing the Church on your right and further on the football pitch which was once part of the original Bonar Bridge / Ardgay golf course, before reaching the cross roads at the Bonar Bridge Primary School. The road to the right takes you to the Bonar Bridge / Ardgay Golf Club - car park, clubhouse and the course.

The Carnegie family of Skibo has a long association with the Bonar Bridge / Ardgay Golf Club. On 29th September 1904 Mrs Carnegie accompanied by her husband Mr Andrew Carnegie, their daughter and a party from Skibo Castle formally opened the Club. In June 1989 another important milestone was celebrated when the present Clubhouse was officially declared "Open" by Miss Margaret Thomson, Ospisdale, the great granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Andrew Carnegie.

Following several alterations the present nine hole course layout, over lands purchased at various times from the Skibo Estate, provides an excellent golfing contrast to the neighbouring 18 hole links courses of Brora, Golspie, Royal Dornoch and Tain.

This nine hole golf course is set in some of the most spectacular scenery in Sutherland with rolling hills, purple heather, Scots pine trees and views over Loch Migdale. It has been rightly described as "a mini Gleneagles" and has been voted as one of the most picturesque 9 hole courses in Scotland. During your round you may see some of the following wildlife: roe & red deer, pine martin, red squirrel, stoat, fox, rabbit, and in the sky above: Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Red Kite, and Osprey.

The Club extends a warm Highland welcome to all and the course at just over 5,000 yards for 18 holes provides a challenge for all golfers no matter what their ability. A small practise facility with two nets, bunker and putting green offers the chance to have a good warm up before taking on the course.

Lowecroft Catering offers delicious food in the Clubhouse seven days a week. The menu of hot and cold food await players after nine or eighteen holes and is also open to visitors (available March to September). Green fees can be purchased from the Steward when the clubhouse is open otherwise an "honesty box" is in operation. Golf clubs, trolleys and a buggy are available for hire during catering hours.

Just phone up and pitch up! You will not be disappointed.
